Crysis hit us yet again. Battleship is a different from other movies since it is showing a whole new setup this time on a naval fleet. The beginning parts of the movie makes me think that this is just another navy drill. Starring Alexander Skarsgard an ignorant candidate aboard the ship plays around his life with his girlfriend Brooklyn Decker. Liam Neeson seems to be the captain of the ship who is trying to straighten Alexander. But now he is put straight away into action when there is some unidentifiable object and is now found to be some alien powered ship which is the true battleship. I like the way the movie is presented, beginning with a very good happy nitty gritty usual life with the hero playing around with the girl. Liam neeson is as usual best fits the role of a captain. the visual effects of the electric shield that is created when the person touches the switch is excellent, looks like some explosion is to come, but to my surprise rises a big alien ship which is enormous which is very good to the eye. the naval fleet shown is huge with its canons a very well kept asset or resource against this battleship. I think the whole movie is shot where titanic movie was shot that is exactly in a pool. Nice action packed movie with Aliens like in the game Crysis are a good thing for everyone to watch. I was looking forward to such a movie which is set in the seas and an awesome show power of the fleet.
From the director of Hancock comes a new film called Battleship. I admit I’m not a fan of this genre. I thought this was going to be another political or sports movie since Peter Berg also directed Friday Night Lights the movie and is also responsible for the TV series with the same title. When I saw Liam Neeson as the most familiar face, I thought this will be like a boring, super serious movies. I know he’s a great actor but basing from his previous movies, all I can think of is pure action, father figure or the role of a God. The main character Alex Hopper played by Taylor Kitsch who by the way also played Gambit on the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Alexander Skarsgard of HBO’s True Blood is also part of the movie as Hopper’s older brother.
Photos and Pictures from the Battleship 2012 with Rihanna.
I heard Rihanna will be making her first feature film role in this movie. Will she be sporting a red or blonde hair and what would her role be? When I learned that this movie has aliens in it, I decided that I’m going to watch this whatever ratings the critics give. It’s so rare to see a film that shows both sides of the story. We can actually see from the aliens’ perspective and also the humans. How cool is that? So, are you going to root for the aliens or the human race? Can’t wait to see this movie in big screen with my friends!
I cannot wait until the movie Battleship is released into theaters in May 2012. Granted, the premise of the movie can hardly be labeled as original (a relatively small group of people stand up against a seemingly invincible alien force) and it will certainly evoke memories of Independence Day, but Battleship does offer a twist on this theme. Rather than fighting it out in space, the movie actually features naval force going up against the alien ship. As in Independence Day, an international force led by the Americans are trying to fight off an alien invading force, with Liam Neeson as Admiral Shane in command.
I will admit, I am a fan of Liam Neeson, and his recent movies have shown he can carry action-filled movies and he certainly does not look out of place in such movies. As is to be expected for this genre, it also packs plenty of eye candy. Not only do we get to enjoy beautiful scenery with Hawaii providing the background for several scenes, but who does not enjoy watching Brooklyn Decker (Sam Shane, Admiral Shane’s daughter)? And we should not forget that Rihanna (Petty Officer Raikes) makes her acting debut in this movie as well, that alone is reason enough for me to go watch it. Of course, a sci-fi movie is more than just the actors. In my opinion, the special effects must be believable and seamlessly integrated. If special effects are clearly that, just special effects which were added in post-production and obviously fake and/or computer-generated, they detract from the story. However, this is not the case for Battleship, the effects are simply stunning. So if you are looking for 2 hours of entertainment, albeit mindless entertainment perhaps, then go watch this movie!
